We spent 40 hours in Season 4 before writing this review — long enough for the hype to fade and the cracks to show. The short answer: yes, it is worth coming back. The long answer has real caveats.
What they got right
The new map is the best level design work in the game so far. The underground centre created a kind of fight that did not exist before, and the shorter rotations fixed the oldest problem in ranked: matches that stalled for minutes at a time.
The change to weekly rewards deserves credit too. For the first time you can keep up with the pass while playing casually, without the constant sense of falling behind.
What got left behind
Weapon balance is clearly unfinished. One of the new guns dominates the meta in a way that does not look intentional, and the developer’s silence about a fix is more irritating than the problem itself.
Performance on older machines also got worse. The new map’s underground section drops frame rates consistently, and there is no graphics setting today that solves it.
So, is it worth coming back?
If you stopped playing because you were tired of the old map, yes, without hesitation: there is enough new content here for about 20 hours before it repeats. If you stopped because of balance, wait for the first patch — the problems that pushed you away are still there.
